Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to be awarded a score of 10 for an Olympic contest. Comaneci was discovered by Bela Karolyi, later to be the Romanian gymnastics coach at the time she was only six years old. In 1969, she competed in the Romanian Junior Championships which she finished 13th. She won in 1970. She took home three golds at her very first contest in a junior pre-Olympic meeting in 1972 for the communist countries of the bloc. In 1973 and 1974, she was the junior all-around champion. She took home four gold medals and one silver in her debut competition as a senior that took place in 1975. It was the first time that she competed as an adult. She won the American Cup at the New York City Olympic Games. She was the first female in history to dismount the parallel bars and to use double backwards salto. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Her career in the entertainment business started in her teen years when she began dancing as a figure skater with her younger sister Nina Wayne as part of the shows that traveled around called Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne is a American citizen who was born on September 6, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois. Carol began her professional career in the world of entertainment as a teenager. In her early years she started her career as a figure skating performer with Nina Wayne in the travelling show of entertainment Ice Capades. These shows included ice skating and other shows, which were also accompanied with musical theatre.
