Laura Linney, best known for playing strong, yet fragile characters, is one of the most celebrated American actors of the present. Her father was an acclaimed playwright, but she was raised as an only child with a single mother, a nurse. In the summer and with her father Linney was able to develop a passion for theatre. Her first stage experience was initially in Brown University then at Juilliard School. Following her graduation at Brown University she began her Broadway debut shortly thereafter. Within two years of this, her first feature film was released and the next year she made her television debut. Her appearances have been in a variety of film, TV as well as stage productions ever since. There were many awards she received during her professional career, including four Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. But despite the many nominations and awards, her enthusiasm for theater is still there, and she still performs in the stage and on screen.
